I believe that Inspiration is rooted in stimulation. Creativity is the vehicle through which the stimulation is expressed. Throughout my life, I have felt and seen the Good Lord's hand stimulate me in the area of the arts. From a very young age, I have felt a strong urge to write. From composing music to writing short stories, it has always been this ease that I have experienced.

I can remember the first time I felt inspired to compose a song. I had never used sheet music before, but there was this strong desire to learn how to read music so that I could compose. At the time, I would play the piano and the guitar by ear but did not know how to read sheet music. I was approached by someone who visited my church who also went to the same college that I was attending. This sister was in the Concert band for the university and played with the brass section. The conductor was looking for more individuals to help out in the percussion section, and my friend thought about me and asked me to join. The only problem was that I couldn't read sheet music, even in the percussion section. Long story short, the conductor took time to work with me to teach me how to read, and the next 3 years of undergrad, I received a scholarship to play in both the concert and symphonic bands. It was from that point that I felt inspired and began to compose sheet music. I believe inspiration and creativity are Gods hand print in the earth. When it comes to inspiration and creativity, you have to have both for balance. It is the fuel from the inspiration that brings the creativity alive.

If you pay attention to what is stirring your heart today, you may discover the beginning of your next creative breakthrough. Sometimes all inspiration needs is for us to notice it. The spark is already in you- creativity is simply the way it chooses to speak.
